Project Request
Apple constructs concept stores designed with global standards, from architectural details to HVAC systems, to provide the same customer experience in all its Retail Stores worldwide. Therefore, the air distribution equipment to be used in the project not only had to provide climate control performance but also had to fully integrate with Apple's architectural design language and not disrupt the store's aesthetics in any way.
The project aimed for special displacement ventilation diffusers integrated with large digital screens, invisible air distribution solutions integrated into product display and presentation tables, disc diffusers used in staff areas, and floor-standing fan coil systems to be positioned along the entirely glass facade, all working within a single engineering concept. At the same time, the preference for products successfully implemented and performance-proven worldwide offered a reliable and risk-free solution for the contractor.
Solution
As STEKON, we supplied all special air distribution equipment and floor-standing fan coil systems used in the project with Price Industries products.
The displacement ventilation diffusers used in the project were selected from solutions specially developed for Apple's large digital screens and product display units. Thanks to the invisible floor-standing diffusers used in presentation areas, air was distributed into the environment at low speeds imperceptible to the user, ensuring that no air distribution element disrupted the architectural integrity of the store.
In staff areas, disc diffusers suitable for open ceiling architecture were used, providing high air distribution performance. The entirely stainless steel Price Industries floor-standing fan coil units applied along the glass facade contributed to a homogeneous temperature distribution throughout the store by balancing heat losses and solar loads caused by large glass surfaces.
As a result of the application, completed with a total of 88 special air distribution products and 7 floor-standing fan coil units, the İstanbul Bağdat Caddesi Apple Retail Store was successfully realized with the same HVAC concept and the same user comfort standards used in Apple stores in different countries around the world.
